Mitre: The 3G network in the uk is crap to be honest. You will probably find that you live in a " fringe area" equidistant between two transmitters, one 3g & one 2g. The handset cant decide which one is the stronger signal so keeps switching.
Ive not had a lot to do with these handsets, but some do have an idle timeout. If you pm me your postcode and mobile number ill check the network for you to see what its doing.

That was the only place in the uk you could get a one2one (old t-mobile) signal many years ago.

T Mobile are piggy backing on orange now dont know if thats doing it ?

Mitre: Sorry, as you can see I get inundated with crap Try again, ive cleared some space. You are correct, TMob & Orange have access to eachothers networks but only as far as voice & sms.

Warpedflash: They have a specific network in the Staffs area called "TurdTelecom" *cough* did I say O2 *cough*

Having followed Warpedflash's suggestion to delete all the TM junk, the wi-fi range seems to have improved considerably for some reason. As someone remarked, it's like walking around with a mini Scroll now

i wont fill up your pm box thanks for looking into that ill try what you suggest as only look at odd youtube clip
as long as i can use sat nav as this is gona be my only phone for awhile
