If you have a look on the Samsung site KIES is the management software for their handsets. It does backup/restore, firmware upgrades and a lot more.

@ FF - I have the option in the menu of KIES for 'Emergency Firmware Recovery' when the phone is connected to the PC, I have not click on it yet - So if i click on it and it does not work will the KIES software mess up the phone? or the 'Emergency Firmware Recovery' just not run?

If you click on it, it will dowload the latest bootloader and firmware for the handset and reinstall it. It can recover probably 95% of problems.

If that fails, it will need to come and see someone like me to get re-flashed - I use the same KIES software, but with a lot more functions than the end-user has (i.e. the full service software complete with a security dongle). For example, I can flash handsets from dead, lock/ unlock them, diagnostic tests. And, no, you cant borrow my dongle or logins

Cheers for the info FF - I am finding the phone very good 'out of the box' at the moment - so will leave it alone, I have the scroll for messing about with - Hopefully Samsung will release 2.2 for this phone, and that will be fun to play with.

Scan device
Low-level reset
Disable all restriction locks
Save



But then I have got the service software and activation dongle Oh, and they get to know ive done it as the software tells them automatically when i'm logged into it. The software I use does not actually display the codes at any time.

Will be picking up my Samsung G Apollo on Saturday. Interested what new buyers think of it and what if any are the "not so good aspects".

I got mine on Sunday - and so far so good - As FF said there is no flash or light on the camera - but that's not really an issue for me, though it would have been nice to have - I am still conditioning the battery and I hope it improves as I only got just under 18-24hrs from full. The screen and the touch is smooth and fast - it's like a mini Scroll but on speed and much better but just has a 3.2" screen. Also found there is an issue with the GPS - taking ages to lock to a satellite - but a free app from your fully working market called GPS Optimisation, fixes that issue in 2 quick and easy steps.
