Aye, when I heard the news I thought awesome, direct downloads of the APK files from the web site. Ummm no, just a layer of twaddle on top of the already flakey market. Just what everyone has been waiting for...

Seriously, what are google playing at? They're generally pretty good at nailing things, cornering markets and such like, but they're making this one a real chore... Certainly not the greatest user experience. It could have been so much better, but hey ho.

I don't get it... what were you expecting? they will never just link you to apk files its already freaking easy to pirate on android why make it easier for you?

This does what Microsoft did with the xbox market. give you a nice interface to look at apps and lets you select what device to put it on I don't get why people are gloomy...

Of course it wont fix our market as I have said for yonks the market on the scroll is a hack job... not really google fault SO were to cheap to get an actual license.

Quite possibly I am expecting too much... But google has always tended to be very open, and have generally made their products available for free. They've always been pretty good at keeping up with the opinions of technology users, but the forcing of DRM on Android users is just plain retarded. It doesn't work. DRM only causes issues for legitimate users like myself who are happy to buy apps rather than steal them. Anyone who wants to steal things will always find a way bypass DRM. It's a toy of the bean counters and it does nothing but damage otherwise good systems / products.

At the end of the day it is what it is and I'll have to put up with it for now, it just surprises me given google's past record is all.

This cloud based Market works well with the scroll on 2.2

Just used my Desire HD to send Solitaire to my scroll and it all auto installed nicely.
