Trying to follow both aeroalex and warpedfish in increasing battery life, I have installed all of the software mentioned but Im unsure as to the location of telephony files which may need renaming in order to disable them, would it be possible to be a liitle more specific for an android novice

I still dont actually have my Scroll so I am just giving advice right now...

The easiest way to rename the telephony.apk etc it to use a file manager like root explorer (paid for app) or Astro (free version available) the files will be in /system/app/

Found two apk's in system/apps that seem related to telephone functionality Dialer (Phone.apk),and Dialer Storage (telephonyprovider.apk). If I rename these applications e.g. phone.old, is it reasonable to assume that the scroll will function (albeit possibly in an unstable fashion until i rename them back) or can making alterations to these types of apk files be catestrophic. I appreciate that I would be doing this at my own risk, just trying to establish that im not doing something really stupid like deleteing the system files from a windows directory

You should be able to remove the following:

"/system/app/Phone.apk"
"/system/app/Mms.apk"
"/system/app/TelephonyProvider.apk"
"/system/app/VoiceDialer.apk"

Rename them to .old instead of .apk though in case something goes wrong

Edit: DOnt remove too much yet as we do not have a working recovery Image/Backup yet!

Do I have to stop the apk before it can be renamed? If so, how do i stop currently running apk's?
