Dont microwave your goodies by mistake

Totally off topic here but a gentle reminder of what microwaves can do.

A friend of mine owns a Navman s50 3d which he placed on top of his microwave while on lunch break he used the microwave to warm up some food and now his satnav wont work. I've connected it to the pc and he's totally wiped the entire system. He has asked me if i can restore or repair it for him.
Can it be fixed or can i find a version of tomtom etc and install that instead?
