calibration

Postby idlemarvel » January 20th, 2011, 1:38 pm

Maybe a dumb question, but when I do a touch calibration it says "Calibration is complete. (Reboot Device for New Settings)". Does this really mean I have to reboot for the new calibration to come into effect?

If the scroll is stating so, then I would think so.

Employees are like mules. Some you stand in front of and coax them along with a carrot. Some you stand behind and kick them in the arse. The key to management is knowing which mules are which!

I can't see any calibration app on my tablet. Do I need to download it?

Yup, 1.01 doesn't have it for some reason... new firmware from SO will, but you can use one from anyone with .94 (I think there's a link in the forum somewhere to one

Speaking of calibration, does anyone have any hints or tips on the best way to do it? I've been experimenting, and I've got a pretty good setup now, but I have a few questions...

1) Is it possible to backup a file somewhere that contains the current calibration data? So that if I try to recalibrate and make it worse I can revert back to a know "good" setup. Maybe one day I'll nail it with enough trial and error.

2) When calibrating do you use a full finger press over the whole target, or do you attempt to hit the centre exactly with a nail or stylus? I've tried both ways, and my results seem at best random :S

3) I often find that I can get the calibration right in one axis, but miles off on the other.

I've got it working pretty well right now, but it's not spot on, so I'm bound to try again. But even laying it perfectly flat on a desk and using a stylus to very precisely nail the centre of the calibration targets seems to give variable results.

Just dont use TSCalibrate apk that Storage Options was sending out... it was useless and completely f**ked my calibration to the point that the top bar on the screen (with the home, back and menu buttons on it) stopped working. Only way to get it back was factory reset.

Im on v1.01 as well so dont have the built in setting for it.

Lol, yeah I've had a couple of calibration tried where getting access to parts of the screen has been impossible! :O So if we're writing off the default app, does anyone have an alternative to suggest?

I did try searching the forums, but apparently "screen" and "calibration" are common words and were therefore removed from the search query! :S

Do *screen or *screen* and *calibration or *calibration* (get the idea?) for the search to work properly.
