Oops...I broke it!

Postby Fonefixer » January 12th, 2011, 5:37 am

SWMBO was happily playing solitaire last night, when all of a sudden she started muttering an un-repeatable string of anglo-saxon phrases....
Then she says "whats this screen that keeps popping up?" Each time she pressed the home hard button a recent apps screen was appearing. Not wishing to lose vast amounts of brownie points, I decided to swiftly investigate (she doesn't like things that don't do what they're told - including me!).
It turns out that the home hard button was staying down and I had to press the menu side of the rocker switch each time to reset it. One five minute call to Maplins CS later and they gave me an RMA number, told me to call back today with the recorded delivery number and they would immediately send a replacement - They did say I could send it freepost, but if I did they wouldnt replace it until they got the old one back. As its worth no small amount of money I thought recorded would be a safer option.
I just hope the new one doesn't have the 1.01 firmware on it!
Dave

If it does then maybe it should 'break' too so you can refund and get one from Dabs, which is v1.00 ;)

You have the same version as me :D Welcome to the new update club :D
My screen calibration is alright though so that may be an actual fault along with the sd problem.

ok...just been on the phone to Mike at SO.

He said the market app has updated itself and somehow lost the shortcut, he's supposed to be sending me instructions on how to replace it.

The screen cal problem was a mystery to him, he said he will get back to me on it at some point today hopefully

Same thing happens to me with the market app dissapearing after its update - had to use Any Cut to find it and make a new shortcut

Screen cal - did you use the one I posted from SO ? It seems to lose touch in the corners for some reason, and a factory reset fixes it back to the original calibration

I found calibrating with my finger gave a better result tha using the stylus if that helps i assume there is a larger point of contact improving the calibration or somthing (no idea at all lol)
If you figure out how to get teh market go for it and tell me what they say so I can try lol
