Market stops downloading

Hi all, and thanks for this forum.

Got a Scroll for Xmas and am quietly impressed with it, considering it's price, and once I got used to the screen.

However, I have now had a problem (twice) with the market just stopping downloading.

I have tried every "solution" I have found on the web:

1. Clearing all caches
2. Logging in and out of Google Talk
3. Uninstalling market updates
4. Plane mode on/off
5. Re-connect to WiFi
6. Reboots etc

The only thing that worked was resetting to factory data.

However, a day later, same problem

Do any other Scroll users have issues with downloading?

What I see is that the downloading symbol flashes up for about 1 second then goes away again.

Everything else works, searching the market etc, and I can install APKs from SD card.

Any help appreciated!

Hmm.. this is a weird one this, the market has been fine on mine! Will look into it for you.

in the mean time you can install APKs from SD card

Yeah, I guess I can grab them on my Desire HD and copy them across.

I wonder if having one googlemail account on 2 devices is an issue?

Also, do people on here have a gmail or googlemail account? I am still on googlemail and refuse to convert!

Another issue I have found, my Google Reader app does not want to sign in either

Having the same account on to devices, shouldn't make a difference to whether or not one device works with the marketplace and the other not. However i've been using a Gmail e-mail instead of googlemail, but i can't see why that would make a difference either?

I'm going to try one more wipe, then sign up with a brand new gmail account. No real need for me to have my phone one on this device anyway.

yes, i would probably try a gmail account to see if it makes any difference.

I also had a problem similar to this : The Gmail account I was using with my Desire would not allow me to use the market on the Scroll. Creating a new Gmail account solved the issue.

Annoyed now. Tried doing the new gmail account etc, but still got the same problem.

I have a few hours where market works fine, then stops.

So what I did was to use that few hours to install every ****ing app I could think of and then back them up to SD card.

I have root access now, so will try some "fix permissions" scripts.

Try completely re-installing the android market or a revert back.

This may not help you, but I suspect that the problems I was having are due to the fact that I had 'paid for' apps on the account I was using. As we are not allowed to access non-free apps on the market, this may be the cause of the issue. This could be why using a brand new 'clean' account works.
This is pure speculation, however.

In the interests of finding further info, I did a factory reset on the scroll, and set it up again, trying my original account, and running logcat at the same time. Here is an excerpt from the log :

Seems to be the culprit, although a quick Google did not turn up any useful results. I'll have a more detailed look later.
