The manufacturers have replied. They are going to replace the tablet. First, I need to find my proof of purchase and work out how to transfer everything onto my laptop.

If you have got Clockwork Mod on your tablet then you can make a complete image backup of everything which could be restored on the repacement tablet if it is the same model and spec but this requires Clockwork Mod being put on the new tablet as well as the present one which is not always straightforward, especially if you have never used it before.

Alternatively and useful in backing up just your apps is Titanium Backup : https://play.google.com/store/search?q=titanium+backup which will back up all your apps for you. In both cases the backup/image need to be transfered to your PC via usb in readiness for when you get your replacement tablet.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Many thanks for that. I haven't got Clockwork Mod, so I'll have a look at the link. My skills in this area are very limited though. If I have to start from scratch with my new tablet, it won't be the end of the world.

I must say, I am very impressed with the speed with which the manufacturers have dealt with my problem. They have now sent me a pre-paid label to send my tablet back to them. Here's hoping they send me a replacement quickly too.

Before I send it back, can someone please confirm that if I go to Settings/privacy/Factory Data Reset, it will delete EVERYTHING? I'm just a bit worried that I've got passwords & personal information etc stored on it :?

It deletes most things, however things like photos taken by the camera are left behind - use file manager to check out the internal storage before shipping.

Would you believe it, I was just getting everything ready last night to post my tablet off today, and I decided to check one more time that the mains charger wouldn't work. The original one still didn't work, but the replacement one that they sent me did!!!

It's now charging up happily, last time I checked, it was at 97%, so I don't know why it had the problem before, but very glad that I don't need to send it back & have a week or so without my tablet.

Scroll Options Support finally replied to me after numerous phone calls and emails..
They basically sent me an email asking for my postal address to post a charger to me, nothing has arrived yet...this was some days ago.

I am not even sure its the charger,if I press my lead in firmly the tablet charges if let go (still plugged in) stops charging..

yet tablet will charge fine over usb,so I think its the port (design isn't the best)

So long as you are quite sure the tablet charging socket is firm and not lose then you might contemplate trimming the charging plug plastic a little. I know some users have had success doing this with intermittent usb connections on their tablets.
