Myplayer

Postby pwilko123 » December 31st, 2010, 12:46 pm

Hi All

Just got my scroll tablet this morning (having waited for a week). Its great, althoughI must agree with previous comments about the responsiveness of the screen, though i am now getting the hang of it...

Anywho, if anyone is interested, the myplayer application (allows the use of bbc iplayer on non-flash enabled phones) works exceptionally well - much better than on my htc desire smartphone. Though you cannot download this from the android market from the scroll tablet if you search google for myplayer and place the installer package in the /nand directory on the phone, the installation works great.

Can you help?

I have found the website for Myplayer at http://www.skynetsoftware.com/myPlayer/index.aspx

However when I select the link for Android "Mplayer is also available on the android platform" and select download It says "please search the android market place on your device to download myplayer" and as you have already noted that it is not available there.

Any chance of the link for the APK file?

Hi Charlie

No additional software has been installed, just the myplayer application..

Can you be a little more specific when you say "blocky", for example when I say that the quality is excellant,i do not mean hi-res, but perfectly acceptable when considering that this is not an "official" application to view iplayer streams on an android device that currently does not have flash support (hopefully merlot willpost further details concerning 2.2.1)

Hi,

the image lags and the pixels bunch up in to 1 cm blocks, not viewable. maybe its cause my boradband is only 5.5mb, but you tube videos run fast and clear when streaming

Hi Charlie

I have looked thismorning andI gave beenunable to replicate what you describe exactly, although by running multiple iplayer apps on a number of pc's has resulted in a lagging effect as the bandwidth of my internet connection is usedup (sky broadband estimated speed of 3mb using online speed checker).

Do you know which versionof themyplayer app you have?

Hi Charlie

Jst had a look at the version of myplayer i think you have given the link above, although this is the same place i downloaded my version from it looks as if you have a newer version than me. I have downloaded this version and I still cannot replicate what you desribe without "loading up" my broadband connection.

Have you run one of the online broadband speed checker applications to see what your actual connection speed is?

Do you know ifany other media type applications are running in the backgground (thi used to be an issue on my HTC desire until i installed advanced taskkiller from the android market as my radio player did not close correctly and subsequently slowed down myplayer)

Not sure what else to suggest at the moment but I will keep looking
