Mwaahaahaahaahaahaa! It's alive!

Don't know what I did to be truthfull. Switched it back on after a cuppa, and it went to CWM recovery. Did another factory reset, and tried to reboot. Softmenu didn't respond, so pressed power button. It rebooted into Cyanogen.

One happy wee Tazmaniandevil. Next challenge is to find the version of kindle app I was using and try it with cyanogen, then load all my books back on.

A huge thank you to all who had the patience to keep with me. Don't worry, I won't use you and leave y'all - I'll hang around for a bit and see how things develop. I will host all the files I have found and been given on my work webspace in case anyone else needs them.

I use one of the kindle reader apps. I've heard of calibre, but never tried it. Is it better than the kindle app?

Calibre isn't a reader but a book management and conversion system that runs on a PC/Linux box etc. Ideal for doing format conversion.

There are add-ons that will convert DRM protected books to other formats so you could for example convert your Kindle files to EPUB and use say FBReader on the Android platform to read the book.

As for battery life - good as it might be an E-Ink reader will beat it hands-down (but they tend to be a One-Trick Pony).

I do use the tablet for other things, but like it as a reader. I find it handy to take in the car, use it for navigation, or make use of free wi-fi when out and about. I have a copy of calibre on my laptop, but assumed Mitre was meaning a reader app for the tablet. (it's been a long week/weekend - brain is pretty much mush)

Yep, back-up done last night now I have most of my regular apps back on. Just thinking too. It would be useful if someone had a backup of the stock setup they could let me have, so I could restore using CWM. It's still bugging me that the stock images didn't work. Then again, that's most likely because I was doing something wrong.
