'adb' is not recognised as an internal or external command?

Postby Aaronnnn » July 4th, 2012, 3:47 pm

Hi, i've been trying to get CWM5 on my Scroll Excel by using the one suggsy89 made that was posted here;

viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1800

Only problem is it keeps telling me that "'adb' is not recognised as an internal or external command." All I really know is that I have to have CWM5 flashed before I can get ICS on my tablet. So, how do I fix that?

I do have the Android SDK and the needed drivers and adb installed on my computer but I only really know that I need them and that's kinda where I go blank. I don't know what to do to get it to flash, any ideas what could be wrong? Or should I just give up, 'cause i'm really new at this...

Thanks. :D

Strictly speaking you don't need CWM in order to flash a rom onto your tablet as there are alternative ways such as using Livesuite, however CWM is arguably safer and does give you the advatage of being able to take a backup image of your tablet before you flash a new rom so that if you do get into trouble you can hopefully get back to where you started.

Regarding adb not found, you must define the path for adb otherwise Windows won't know where to look for it.
If you are following Suggsy's "How to" then you will need to take some time to learn a little about adb otherwise it is like trying to talk to someone in a language they cannot understand. If you don't feel confident then be very careful otherwise you can turn your beloved tablet into an expensive paperweight. And remember, although the updates the devs provide are usually excellent, you undertake using them completely at your own risk.

Try the novices corner about adb and this will point you to the (adb) Android Debug Bridge - guide which hopefully will help you on your journey.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!
