I Think I've bricked it!

Postby Pobble » April 27th, 2012, 9:45 pm

Hi

I was running Suggsy89's ICS with no problems except that I have been having battery problems which were there before I flashed ICS.

Decided to do a reset by holding the power button for 30 seconds.

After that I could not get into CWM so decided to reinstall it.

Everything appeared to install alright and I rebooted.

All that happened was that I got the avatar used by Suggsy89 and that was it.

If I power down I get a 'pop', the screen flashes and then it shuts down.

Tried going into recovery mode but no luck.

I guess there is no way back unless anyone knows otherwise.

Thanks

This happened to me, i thought it was dead, so i took it apart, i felt that the cpu was hot, so i assumed it was on, so i decided to cross the battery cables that go to the pcb with a screwdriver, why i dont know, but that seemed to drain the power out of the pcb, and when i switched it on after, it came to life.

It's worth a try.

Any tip as to how to get the back off without too much damage?

Thanks

Just take out the screws at the bottom, pry off the back of the case with a plecktrum like tool, preferably plastic.

The speaker is glued to the back of the plastic, be careful not to rip out the cables because they are soldered to the pcb.

Take your time if you do attempt this.

undo the two black screws on btm then use a plastic pry tool or fingernail to pry all the way round the white back (it has ribs on the folded edge that keep it in place gently lift up back and look for cable conecting speaker to the back then open like a book taking care not to stretch the speaker cable
 ' suggsy89 you beat me to it

How long did you hold it there for? lol
Theres a reset hole at the bottom of the Excel poke a needle in there you will feel it click, hold down for 10 seconds and then let go.

If that doesnt work, just connect it up to livesuit and flash again, choose no as the format option as that will preserve your data.

I held it for about 10 seconds and then gave it a shake!

Tried the reset - no joy.

Tried Livesuite, but I think the problem is that my computer is not registering that I am connecting a device, si Livesuite does not seem to respond.

This sounds exactly like what happedned to me, scared me aswell lol

You may have to leave it on to drain the battery, i think it will be a power problem. You could switch it off and leave it for half an hour then try livesuit again.

If you switch it off, does the cpu still feel hot?
