I don't suppose a ps3 controller will work via its cable.
Will have to try it when I can move about again.

I got a Vodafone PAYG K3565 dongle to work fine. Takes a while to get the signal but all is good!

Shame I spent a load of money on a portable battery wifi router first..... I'm sure it will come in useful though.

I read somewhere that the Excel refused to charge via USB if the current was over 1000mah.
But I always thought the device would only draw what it needed?
Anyway I will leave it to anyone that may be more qualified than me :)

Thanks.

I am puzzled that this device is listed as 2,600 MAh - now as the Scroll battery is usually at least 3,400 MAh then the maths don't add up. Logically, you could only partially charge your Scroll from this device if the specs are as listed.
In the advert they say they recharged 2 cellphones from it but they didn't say what the battery specs were. Chances are they were on 1,100 MAh or so each being a cell-phone. Personally, I don't see how this device can work on the Scroll. :( However, if you think it is worth the money, you could use it to extend the playtime of the Scroll - taking the quoted figures you should get about another 45% playtime when the device is plugged into the usb of the Excel. As far as this mythical 1,000 MAh maximum goes that the Scroll can't exceed, the Scroll will only trickle charge via the usb at a low rate, it won't try to take it all at once.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

I'm new to the forum and am just waiting for my shiny new Excell 3d tablet to appear, ordered yesterday from Ebuyer.
Quick question, has anyone tried a simple USB audio interface and whether it worked or not? I work with audio and it might well be a useful feature to me.
Cheers!

Hi sadsplace,
I doubt you will be able to find a way to drive your Excel audio via its usb port due to the limitations of android gingerbread. You will find your "android" tablet quite different to what you have been used to with a Windows full PC tower.
However, the audio output from the 3.5mm socket on the Scroll is excellent and can easily be fed into a variety of devices including a full PC's Audio card input.

i have a couple of usb wall chargers rated at 2000mA they will charge my old model scroll but if i plug them into Excel the lightning bolt on the battery icon flashes on insertion then goes blank as if the current is being cut off

WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
IT DOESN'T MATTER

Buying one myself just now as I haven't even tested the HDMI out yet.

Got mine today thanks Wully, but cost me £1.98 - still a bargain with the postage costs. :D

Certainly sounds like the Scroll doesn't like it. This could be a case that:
1. Your chargers may only be half-wave rectification - this may explain the flashing On/Off of the lightning symbol.
2. USB output (say on your PC's PSU) is a smoothed and well regulated DC voltage - it sounds as though your chargers are not. (The device that blueeagle69 is thinking of buying will be full DC within the USB voltage tolerance)
3. Micro usb charging sockets have become the norm for many devices but although the Scroll has mini usb this is not one of those devices. SO tell you you cannot charge your Scroll via the usb probably to avoid these very risks.
The statement that a device will only draw the current it requires and not all that is available remains a fact of Physics. However, if the Scroll is low on power and tries to take more than the circuit board can tolerate without destruction, this could also be why SO say you cannot charge the Scroll via usb. Clearly, any input via usb must meet the controlled usb voltages and be an appropriate source of direct current. Devices like your PC and voltage matched battery packs will do this but many wall plug type usb chargers will not meet these tight standards unless they have been purchesd for the specific task - i.e. the iphone charger. Off the shelf generic chargers can damage delicate equipment if they are not matched to the device using them.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!
