Comics

Postby onyx175 » February 26th, 2012, 8:34 pm

Hi guys, i'm new here. I've never been that interested in tablets before but got some spare cash and thought I'd treat myself.

I was wondering, how is the Scroll Excel for comics? Are there apps which support it and do you guys find the screen is big enough? I'd appreciate your opinions!

Thanks,

I'm using Droid comic viewer with great sucess to view .cbr files. I'm used to reading them on a laptop and and the tablet form factor is leaps and bounds better.

I had some initial difficulty in pointing the app to my sd card where I had them stored but worked it out in the end.

Thanks for your help guys. The screen is only 1" bigger than the kindle which i had a little trouble reading comics on - what do you guys think about the screen size and comics?

I know what you mean but the big difference is the touch screen and tilting. I can fit a page from the Walking Dead on the Excel in portrait mode and have it easily readable 90% of the time. If I have a page you want to zoom into then its easy with a touch screen, pinch to zoom and drag to scroll around. If you hit a page that's landscape flip the tablet on its side and the page redispays after a couple of seconds. Compared to the hassle of doing the same manipulations on the Kindle it's X1000 easier.

To be honest it's always going to be better on a 9" screen, but you pay your money and take your choice.

I've been using the perfect viewer app for viewing comics, in landscape mode it works very well, I don't need to zoom in, just scroll down, viewing it in portrait isn't perfect for myself, perhaps if the screen was bigger it would be alright. Till then landscape's fine.
