How do I connect to a hd tv

Postby terry306uk » February 11th, 2012, 9:13 pm

I can connect easily to my 32" tv via the hdmi lead, but when I try to connect to my other 2 smaller tv's, I get a message on my tv's saying not supported. I think my 2 smaller tv's are only 1080i, as opposed to the 1080p on my larger tv.

On my scroll excel, I can't find any options to change the output settings.

Is this possible? Or is there any way I can get it to work.

Welcome to the forum. :D

You are correct, the Excel only supports 1080p. I can not find a setting on the scroll which will lower the resolution. Do you have any settings on the smaller tv's that will lower the resolution at all to see if that will work?

In case you diddnt know 1080p is similar to 1080i but it includes "progressive scanning". Ill have a "google" for you and see what I can come up with. Any chance you can tell me what make / model the incompatible tv's are please?

My initial thoughts are if your smaller tv's dont have a setting for changing 1080p to another then youre not going to get it working im afraid.

Wow! That was a quick reply, thank you.

I can't find any settings on the incompatible tv's to lower the resolution.
TV #1 is a TEAC 22" model number T22LID19
TV #2 is a Murphy 19" model number C1999FIPOD

Apparently the Murphy one supports 720p (HDTV) • 480p (EDTV) • 480i (SDTV). I cant find a manual for it at the moment, but I think youll be out of luck. Leave it with us until the morning and ill ponder over the problem.

thanks for your help so far, hope theres a way around it, rather than buying another tv that will support it.
i can't find a manual either, I'll keep searching my house for them though. If I could get either of them to work, I'd be happy.
Cheers.

just a thought dont know much about tvs but could you not get an HDMI to scart or HDMI TO rgb cable and veiw that way on the Tv or would the signal nmot be compatible just thinking outside the box you would probably need a digital to analogue converter
Edit: its quite an expensive solution http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDanywhere-Comp ... 879&sr=1-1

Thank you both for your help. It does seem an expensive solution at almost £60. I think I'll pay a little extra to get a 1080p tv. It's a pity I can't change the output settings on my scroll excel, would have saved me the expense. I only got my scroll excel on Saturday, falling in love with it already.
Cheers
