DUST!!

Postby blueeagle69 » February 11th, 2012, 3:36 pm

 Well second time around, and two small dust particles have appeared underneath my screen, near the return button :( The one that went back had the same problem.
It must be getting in through where the buttons are. I am not sending this one back because of the dust, but I wish to God there was a way to remove these specs without wrecking my beloved Excel.

Might sound silly, but if they are near a button try using a hoover pipe over the button to see if it will pull it out. Ive been known to use this method to remove dust from under phone screens when I cant be arsed to strip it down.

I am not responsible if you break it if you try the above blah blah.... :D

I came up with a plan to try to eliminate dust getting in through the button area.

I took a strip of clear sticky-backed plastic (I have always wanted to say that), and I stuck it over the area where the buttons are.
Luckily the tape was the right width from the edge of the screen to the end of the casing. And you can hardly notice it's there.
And the buttons work as normal.
Now for the port covers.

Right then. I finally got around to ordering the port covers from Topi Covers.
When they arrive I will take a photo and pop it on here.
