Skype Video Calling Fixed. Video Lip Sync Fixed BUT ....

Postby rayhertford » January 23rd, 2012, 9:21 pm

Hi All

Not too sure if there are other posts relating to all this but I've bitten the bullett!

I emailed SO about the Skype video not working, (unit only sees a "back" camera not a front), and was told to "contact Skype" about it!!!!!!

Also, I was fed up with the audio lip sync being out on all video files I played. Well I've got both of those things fixed by loading the Momo09 ICS Android 4.0.1 image on my unit. It really works well and Skype Video now works. All my movies and videos work without lipsync issues. My Android now has a Full market so I can download and install things like the TUNE IN Radio player which also works brilliantly and is someting I really need so that I can listen to reginal BBC Radio stations, this app simply wasn't listed in the market place before!

My unit now thinks it's a GT-19100 what ever that is! But whatever it is, it has a full Market Place.

I've only found two things that don't work which did work before. Locations services, my unit is no longer able to work out it's location on the maps, I'm not too sure how it did it before as there is no GPS and no 3G, but it did work and doesn't now (a pretty minor issue). The other thing that doesn't work is any flash based content, e.g. BBC iPlayer, TV Catchup etc etc, these worked before although they were so jittery and blotchy that it was bearly watchable , although the BBC iPlayer wasn't too bad. YouTube works fine, and ITV Player kinda streams but is too jittery to watch.

I just followed the routines on the other threads shown in this forum and links to external sites. Flashing was very easy and surprisingly quick, in fact it took me far longer to get the scripts running to provide the full market etc.

If anyone else has loaded this image and has been able to fix these two minor faults I'd really appriciate some guidence.

I really like the UI on ICS, it's much better than 2.3.x

FYI, this is what my unit nows lists under the "About tablet" screen

Well done @rayhertford I believe you are the first to be running ICS on your Excel.

Hi Excel

I'm sure there was a thread on here somewhere but it points to this forum http://www.pandawillforum.com/showthread.php?8246-Android-ICS-4.0.1-firmware-for-All-Winner-Ployer-MOMO9

I read through all the pages on this forum and didn't download either the basic 159mb file or the chinese 285mb file. I used the MOM09-4-kevin file at about 210mb. I used the link to a Russian download site which was pretty quick about 20mins (the chinese one takes about 4-5 hours!). When I ran the file the LiveSuitPack was in English. As I say, read through all the pages on this forum and towards the end it points again to the kevin file which is what I'm using. To get the USB drivers to work, so as to apply the scripts after the upgrade, I used Easy Tether, as the USB utils in this post wouldn't work on my PC (Dell + Win 7 Prof).

@rayhertford

If you look slightly above any post editing box you will see a youtube button. Simply click it and place only the identifier ( after the =) within the youtube parentheses.

Voila, embedded youtube! :)

Regarding the camera issue, have a look at "system/etc/camera.cfg" try changing the value to 2 and see if it makes it work on skype.

Hi Fonefixer

Thanks, yep I tried that youtube code but it just doesn't seem to work for me on this forum. I use that feature quite a lot on other boards, maybe you could test it with the youtube URL I listed above?

Re: the camera after flashing to ICS, the camera in my tab now works correctly, whereas it didn't work before with the stock image with 2.3.6
