Well after my success yesterday, I'm back to dodgy connection again. My wifi always appears to be connected but it could take upto 30 secs before it goes away and does anything, then it might be great for a minute or so. I've tried assigning a static ip address from the router based on my tablets MAC address. This appears to be a common problem with other android devices also, Galaxy and Asus are especially prone. I've got other devices connected to this network and none of them have any problems. Not sure what to do now, ran out of ideas

Little bit more of an update, upgraded the firmware of my router (tenda w311r+) and its now superfast with no delays . So fingers crossed its fixed. If it goes back to being sluggish again, then I think android has a problem with how its having its ip address allocated.

Looks as if my wifi problems are sorted, it still is performing great today without me doing anything different. So if any one else u is having flakey wifi try updating firmware on the router first.

Glad you got it sorted.

If you still continue to get drop-outs id suggest assigning your scroll a static ip and see if that helps.

Tried it with the static IP address, did no good for me, though it did resolve for lots of others for different brand tablets. I am still assigning an IP address based on the Mac address of my tablet, but it was the firmware that finally did it. I now need to do the same thing at my sister in laws who as the same router as me.

TBH - It seems I have fixed my issue with Wifi drop-out between my Excel and router (no issues with other Wifi devices I have on the network) - I just installed an app called 'Advanced Wifi Lock Free' on the Excel.

I've been getting this issue where if I have wifi enabled, then lock the screen and it goes to sleep, the wifi goes off to save power, then when I unlock the excel the wifi is enabled again, but it keeps saying that all routers are out of range including my own, disabling it myself and putting it on again doesn't fix it. I need to reset the excel to fix it, anyone else had this issue?

You do have "wifi sleep policy" set to "never" in advanced wifi settings?

No because I wanted it to save power when I wasn't using it, It works fine if I set it to never but eats more battery. Seems like a issue with android if for some reason even though the wifi is enabled after coming out of sleep it can't find any routers.
