I tested a logitech Cordless Rumble pad 2, the wireless reciever picks up the controller and flashes when a button is pressed. But nothing happens in android, the only input I could get from it was trying to set the controls in a snes emulator to the controller, it pops up a window saying please press a button to map to, then it has clear and cancel under it. Whenever I press a button on the controller it seems to cancel it. So it is getting input though just doesn't seem to work properly.

@ Mitre I think this adapter just takes care of the physical connection between Ethernet and USB (there's probably some helpful electronics going on inside), but I think it relies on the operating system for a driver, which I don't think Android has natively.

I know that some tablets (Flytouch) come with an RJ45 socket, so it should be possible to create a connection.

I'd quite like to explore this further... do you think it's okay to continue the discussion here or should I create a new thread?

Interesting stuff - This would be best in its own thread.

Cheers :)

As mentioned elsewhere:
Excel wrote:I've got a '3' Huawei E160G mobile broadband dongle on PAYG. Unfortunately it's got no airtime on it at the moment so I can't get online. However, plugging it in to the Excel via the OTG cable shows 3 bars of 3G signal.

When I've next got some PAYG credit I'll check whether it will get the Excel online... for the moment, it's a 'maybe'

I've also tried, unsuccessfully, to connect an external USB CD drive that has it's own power supply. It's probably a driver issue, so don't hold your breath on this one.

regarding Lexar Class 10 card i think that android can not read cards faster than Class 6 I am not 100% on this but i read it somewhere it will work just not faster than class6 please correct me if i am talking nonesense ;)
ive just got the cheap ones they seem to work fine

I don't know about the speed it's actually working at, but I can confirm its fully working. I've installed most of my Apps to the SD card and everything works without a single hitch! I've move files between folders, both between internal and external storage and I've had no issues at all.
I downloaded Jeb Corliss " Grinding the crack" at 720p, to the SD and it plays really smooth, with no errors. (I've not had a chance to try 1080p yet).

As Charlie said, maybe the Excel's downgrading the speed it accesses the card, but to use an analogy, just because you own a ferrari, doesn't mean you need to fully open the throttle to appreciate the power and speed! ;-) lol

Anyone looking for a cheap mini HDMI to HDMI cable, amazon has a 1.8M one for 98p!

Buying one myself just now as I haven't even tested the HDMI out yet.

That is a very good price for a HDMI to HDMI mini cable - I might get one too, but I have 4 already
