POLL : Do we want Ice Cream Sandwich

What is Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4)
Android 4.0 builds on the things people love most about Android — easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets, and deep interactivity — and adds powerful new ways of communicating and sharing.

Its also supposed to be the version of Android that unifies mobile phones and tablets. Alot of the phones and tablets that have just come out have already said that they are planning to upgrade to Android 4 soon. Google have release the sourcecode which should make it easier for the makers to the code onto their devices quickly.

This poll is to simply guage who is interested, not bothered or even willing to contribute if SO themselves decide they will not support an upgrade to their product.

This poll is for the Excel tablet only and certainly appears to have the power to be upgraded.

I'm not sure if it's bad etiquette to post the same reply more than once, but I'm doing so in all of the Android 4 / ICS Excel threads I can find.

I'm sure the mods will put me right if I've erred! As it's easier to apologise than ask permission... sorry!

I've emailed Paul at SO to find out what their plans are for updating the Excel to 4 / ICS. I'll let you know what he has to say.

i hope SO are watching this no votes for 2.3 i got a 4.0.3 rom on a little phone its a bit buggy but gives me an idea of what to expect from ICS and its soo good

No I'm still awaiting a reply... I got an ackowledgement (a proper one, not an auto reply) from Paul and am awaiting his thoughts.

I get the impression that SO are absolutely overwhelmed by the success of the Excel, which is great, and they are working very hard to keep everyone happy. I guess we need to be patient, but if I don't hear anything by early next week, I'll give Paul a gentle reminder.

Initially, I wasn't too fussed about 4 / ICS, but I've had a play with it via the Android SDK and I'm impressed. Now I'd like to see how it would work on the Excel.

As soon as I hear anything, I'll post it here.

Thanks Excel, The more I hear about ICS the more I think it would make our tablet stand out from the rest of the clones and would in my opinion show SO to be more than just an importer of hardware.
