Excel Screen Glass or Plastic?

Postby Astro » January 8th, 2012, 1:06 pm

Does anyone know if the Excel screen is glass or plastic?

I'm not very keen on using a screen protector because they always seem to end up with bubbles under and start to peel... I've removed the one that came with the Excel becuse it was peeling anyway and had 'bits' under it.

If the screen is glass I probably won't bother with a protector, if it's plastic I guess I'll need to find something.

Thanks

Thanks everyone.

My screen is cold to the touch when first used and reflections are totally flat so, because I want it to be, I'm going with glass.

Special thanks to justb... I'm not sure how you perform a tooth test, but I hope Excels taste nice and that you didn't have the camera active!

I have had the plastic sheets (or whatever they are called) off both the front & back of the Excel for about a week now, and all still looks good. Anyone else using the Excel with no protectors on?

Mine has lots of smudges too, no scratches so far. Still can't tell if the screen is glass or plastic.

I took the plastic protectors off nearly 3 weeks ago, and there are no scratches, yet.

I think the protectors were just there to safeguard the screen during manufacturing and transit, they weren't thin enough or clear enough to be considered proper protectors. Mine were also a bit grippy, but they didn't show the greasy marks as much as with them removed.

I think the screen is glass... cold to the touch and no reflection distortions.

I think the Excel is a better unit without the protector, but if you're taking it out a lot and have no other form of protection, then a bit of plastic film might be worth having.
