Thanks for the headsup mate.
I also had success with DVD Fab. Not free of course. I decided to test it with 1024x576 xvid. Basically, tried to push it. Tried it with MX Player with the ARM7 CODEC, and the bit I watched looked in sync.

Thanks for the conversion tips, Ill try those out. As i said in my earlier rant on this thread, don't feel we should have to convert but at least the option is there and SO got back to us with an explanation.

Got a reply direct from support on this and my wifi crash issues, asking for more info on the video files I tried. They seem switched on and keen to look into our issues and resolve them.

Bodes well I think.

When I used http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dv ... verter.htm
The video I used to convert was an AVI created off of youtube which was out of sync on the tablet, I then converted it using the program from the link above to MP4 and it worked great, no sync issues.

Cool I'll take a look.
What kind of resolutions was the video?
My current track record is, lower resolution videos playback terrible, but high res ones, seem to play great.
Like S.O Paul mentioned though, if I skip through a vid that did seem to be in-sync, becomes horribly un-synced. But if I pause the video and then start playing, it seems to come back into sync. There's something wrong somewhere.
BTW. I installed the Ustream app from the market. Yep you guessed it, out of sync.
Pausing the video, and restarting seemed to help.

An update on audio problems. The audio seems to be out of sync generally throughout the system.
There seems to be an audio lag on the click sounds on my keyboard and when playing games?
Try this for example too.
Switch on Audible Selection in the Sound menu.
With this switched on, you get the sound after you have made a selection.
Using Super Keyboard from the market, with audible selection on, you get the keyboard click sound but there is a short delay.

The graphics are as smooth as ice, so it cannot be attributed to slowdown.
Storage Options can you look into this please.

I use handbrake to convert MkV files to m4v for iPad etc. These seem to play in sync. I only use stereo audio though, no 5.1 or anything. I use 1000kbs video bitrate and 160kbs audio. Handbrake gets very good results but takes a long time if you don't have a good pc. (I do it on the quad core at work, lol)

The audio delay is down to the audio latency in android. It's why there are not good music program's for droid. Most games you don't notice, but I have iPad and on sonic cd the noise happens when you jump. On android there is a noticeable delay.

Now, I have a galaxy s phone, and run a music program caustic. It says I get 93ms latency. Same program on scroll excel reports 186ms!!

So this tablet might be on a par with galaxy s in someways, audio is not one of them!!

Hey blueeagle69,

The audio seems to be out of sync generally throughout the system.

It sounds like you're confirming my suspiscions and its all adding up.

Its exactly what I was trying to suggest to Paul in my response in this forum on Friday. Sure, badly encoding films can leave them out of sync but its the sheer quantity of clips out of sync is unusual. My personal hit rate is about 25% success rate with films in sync. Funny how switching between HW and SW decoding makes little or no difference to this issue. Everything else like iPlayer, Flash etc can't all be down to encoding, they all seem out by roughly the same amount.

When I replied to support I sent some technical info for my video clips but I suggested to them that the audio issue could be a firmware, rather than just encoding.

They seemed keen to help, and are already looking into this, iPlayer and wifi stability, so I'll let you know when I get a reply.

As far as pausing and resuming video to get it back in sync, that works on a whole range of devices/players including PCs. However, I've not had to resort to that for while because modern devices are so good. I used to see it when the hardware/software wasn't man enough. A film thats badly encoded and is plain OUT will never come back in sync that way, but if its the device/player that's got its knickers in a twist, it can help.

Now, I have a galaxy s phone, and run a music program caustic. It says I get 93ms latency. Same program on scroll excel reports 186ms!!

Justb, great investigation, thanks! I have a Galaxy S too, and I use PowerAmp. On the Excel I had to tweak my audio settings including, increasing my buffer to Huge, and upping the priority to get it to play stable. I've just seen what Caustic is, I love that sort of thing, I going to try that!

The Galaxy S has that awesome Wolfson audio chip in it, the one that the Voodoo app exploits. I wonder what the Excel has? The actual sound quality out of the headphone amp is fine.

I am going to try some encoding later, I guess thats our "workaround" for now.
