Thanks a lot for your welcome gazzy21uk. I did indeed have a cat's whisker radio, actually I called it a 'Crystal Set', it sounded posher! My Dad put up an enormous copper aerial for me, from house to end of garden. Always try to keep on top with new technology - it's only 'stuff' after all - keeps me off the streets and frightening the horses.

Hello this is the BBC World Service
My first electrical gadget was a transistor radio got it in my christmass stocking when I was about 8 I think, that's a clue to my age lol.
I still have an old bakerlite valve radio I listen to sometimes the sound of it is really special has a calming effect on me, but it picks up less and less stations every year, as the world turns digital what a shame.
