Unfortunately, they arent much use as there are specific files needed to compile for the Scroll which are apparently not available under GPL. There has been discussion of this before, especially between myself and Storage Options recently. If you ask them for the files they send what is apparently the GPL parts of the firmware but completely ignore requests about who actually makes the scroll or who can provide the info.

Thats a bit of a disappointment. Under GPL, StorageOptions is responsible for the distribution of the sources - and its quite easy to see if their drivers are GPL compliant or not. (open the driver .ko files and look for the keyword license) If its GPL, then they have some explaining to do.

All the /proc/cpuinfo ID's tell me its a reference design by telechips, I have no idea how much StorageOptions et al have deviated from the reference.

You could try emailing/calling SO, but many of us already have, to no avail

I wonder if they will listen if you send them a copy of a letter to license-violation@gpl-violations.org - although I prefer the carrot approach.

Lots of discussions about Telechips there

Just imagine a world in which SO were open and helpful about the Scroll. We would all upgrade to Android 2.2 and merrily use our machines feeding back experience and advice to SO. In due course we would want more powerful hardware and would select the next generation of SO machine confident of ongoing support. As it is..... well lets just say SO are unlikely to get any more of my money.

Tried ringing them today, they said.. "we will get a technical adviser to call you back" it's been 4 hours already, sent numerous emails no such luck with that either.. I like the Scroll itself, but not Storage Options Support

So has anyone got any further in getting the full source for the scroll or is it a non-starter as far as developmeht is concerned?
