I'm afraid I've defected as well and bought a viewpad 7, which is good enough for my needs. Hrh has still got the scroll but the battery is beginning to fail now....

Off Topic - Sorry.

I nearly got the viewpad 7" (after seeing Scopes post) but with it having the ARM 11 v6 CPU (so no flash) and it not having HDMI out - (2 things I really need I a new tab) - I decided it was not the one for me. Shame because other than missing those 2 bits, it's a damn good tab.

As for the Scroll battery - I think mine is on the way out too - for the 1st time EVER, it went from 84% power to warning 4% then switched off, but when switching back on with the charger in for a minute, it shows power again at 84%. I hope that it is just a conflict with a recent app installed. Or I might have to open her up and see if I can replace the battery.

(Hope this joins my two posts, cant see a multiquote button to stop double posts?)

That was one of the things I looked at before choosing this transformer, I really wanted flash, you can cope without it, but when you don't have it, its like chopping off your fingers and then going for a manicure (I don't go for manicures lol)

How long have you both had your scroll's now ? I doesn't feel like a year yet, maybe Im wrong ?

EDIT - AH yea, I forgot to add, the accelerometer works on this tablet ! I can actually play games that need you to tilt the tablet and they tilt properly

One thing I will add though, I remember many games having backwards accelerometer orientation on the scroll, so that left was up and down was right, we thought it was a fault with the scroll ?

Some games I have installed on here did the same thing, then a few days later there was an update for the game and the tilt orientation was fixed, so I think it is more likely that the game devs just have not added support for the scroll yet in the games that are upside down and back to front.

Possibly email them and give them details of the scroll for them to add support ?

My Scroll is still under its 1yr warranty but the cost of taking it to my local Maplins some 2500 miles away is kinda pointless for the sake of a battery.

With regard to the Viewpad, it does all I need and is a darn sight better than the Scroll. The Viewpad site does say you can get flash on it but im still waiting for a reply as to how ( I know the browser supports it, must be embedded).

That's a good point Det. - My Scroll will be 1yr old in December - I got it from eBuyer, but I thought that batteries were only covered for 6 months.

@FF - There is a flash 10.1 for the ARM 11 V6 - which you could try, you need 2.2 - If you Google 'flash for ARM11 v6' you should find the info about the mod some Chinese Dev's made.

2500 miles ? lol where are you ?

Can't you get it sent by Courier / the same way you bought it ?

Which OS is it running, 2.2 ?

Charlie, if the batteries are not covered, do my trick and brick it with a chinese rom, then RMA and put the money toward a new one :D

I didn't know the batteries were covered separately to the unit, they are non removable to the average joe

I have had it running funs rom but Hrh diddnt like it so ive put it back to stock. Im going to take it to pieces and see if I can get a better battery (Or maybe just buy her a new tablet)

Charlie, I tried looking for flash but it wont have it. Ive emailed ViewSonic and will wait for a reply. Not really bothered though tbh.

Egypt is a canny hike away from the nearest maplins like...

I took mine to bits, can't remember how thick the battery was, but you might be able to make your own with a load of decent MAh rechargables, might have to use AAA ones

Or a suppose you could make a battery pack and attach it to the back of the scroll, plugging it into either where the battery connects inside, or see if it would work sticking a charger jack on the end and powering it that way

Would be a hideous monstrosity, but a moderately portable one lol

It certainly is a hike. Im surprised there isnt one in Cairo, there's every other damn shop there!

I did suggest about Hrh putting a car battery and some jump leads in her handbag, but she diddnt see the funny side ( not surprising!)

Haha, knowing women there is more than likely already one in there

Maybe you could make a killing on the scroll, and sell it to someone in Cairo as a top end tablet :D

I could, but then I can buy a genuine (chinese import crap lookalike) iPhone for 400LE (about 38 quid!) so the Scroll has no hope!
