Ok, my phone is on if you get stuck.

I just noticed the time of your last post.... you should have flashed ten handsets by now!

Dont forget, once odin says "pass" disconnect the handset and in the dialler screen type *2767*3855# and wait for it to reboot - that will get rid of and spurious eclair crap.

Please report back here when youve done it and let me know how you got on.

Well not doing so well!! Transferred all files to odin, handset connected and all I get is 'Please connect phones' when I run it.

XP PC FW and AV turned off, tried settings on Apollo USB debugging on and off, USB connection Mass storage and PC Internet. Phone says USB connected in Notification Bar but no go with any configuration. Also tried with and without SIM and SD card :(

Didn't phone you as thought posting my failures here would benefit others

ah,, i see the problem.......

"USB connection Mass storage" wrong......The handset is supposed to be in "download mode" which is not accesible with the handset turned on.

AndrewW: Here's what youre doing wrong, and how to fix the problem.

USB debugging must be off.....

Start odin as administrator. Load the ops/phone/pda & csc files as required. Do not connect the handset to pc yet.
With the handset turned off, hold down the vol- and centre select hard keys. Then press the on/off button. The phone screen will say "downloading".
Connect it to your pc with odin already running and the files in the correct place. the com port screen (top left) will turn yellow with a com port number in it. The handset is now connected.
Click on start and watch the fun.
Leave all alone until the large window top left says "pass" (about 6-7 minutes)
Disconnect handset and do a hard reset as described above.
Voila! FroYo.

Dont forget to do the hard reset. I also suggest you format your sd card in your pc then reinsert it in your handset. Then reload your apps. Also, one final thing, please check your imei (*#06# from dialler screen). I removed the boot flash from that froyo as if used incorrectly it will wipe your EFS partition and render your handset useless. Just please make sure your imei is still there and you can log on to a network.

Glad I could help. If anyone wants to to post an idiots guide let me know. The video is done in real time so is a bit fast.

imie is still there and I can connect without problem. One thing, I entered *#2767*3855# on the dialler screen and nothing happened.

Must say it's much faster now :D

My bad (again!) I put in too many hashes - the code should be *2767*3855#

Wipes EVERYTHING!
