I'll explain a bit more about it as i'm in the "line of sight" so to speak :D

Every mobile manufacturer issues "area-specific" updates, they all have their quirks regarding how they issue them and when. Each must contain specific language packs and other things specific to our region - network info, security data...the list is endless....it takes time, which the customer doesnt normally appreciate.

I have no control over when these updates are issued, but rest assured I can bend a lot more ears than most customers, and I have done numerous times. Not just on your behalf, but on behalf of most of the people in the UK. I have had over 300 phonecalls today alone over a failed Galaxy S update to Gingerbread and have given KIES authority to downgrade handsets, in my 20 or so years in this business I have only done it one other time. Normally KIES cannot downgrade handsets, but it will if I say so!

I do have froyo on my personal handset, but it has bugs and I dont want to release it here as it will cause you issues. Samsung have asked me to withold the info on how to get it, I have personally given them two weeks to sort the issues out given customer demand, or I will kick someones arse in HQ.

Rest assured, arse has been severely kicked and I expect action.....

@Fonefixer

Way to go....Now easing the bite off first trigger pressure, exhaling and applying safety on. Good news for us if you are kicking ass and taking names, must admit was gobsmacked when Samsung were not even willing to say IF they were releasing in UK to Apollo, given other countries jump on us. Keep them in your sights FF !!!
Your ear must be so close to the ground that we should call you Worm Whisperer than FF !

Worm Whisperer? Surely you can do better than that!!!!!

OK...here goes, i'm in for some flak now......an update on the situation from the UK exec office in Chertsey.

I just got off the phone with one of the guys in the above office. He tells me that as the Galaxy S II is being released soon development of FroYo for the Apollo may be put on hold for a while. He did say it would be released as promised by Samsung HQ in Korea but had little clue as to when. It is the Korean HQ that put the new firmware up for download via KIES.

In my opinion as one of the official Samsung beta testers, the FroYo I have on mine (XXJPM) is not fit for general release - it is probably 85% there. I have tried about 9 different betas, all with varying degrees of issues - some very minor - some make the handset not fit for purpose as far as the law is concerned so are unreleasable.

If enough people complain, they may change their minds though. This means I need your help please.

If you look on the Samsung UK website you can register your device in the support section. Once done, submit a support request and ask when Froyo is coming for your handset. They will probably give you a load of waffle, just keep persisting and demand to speak to someone higher up the ladder.Tell them that you were promised FroYo for your device and are fully aware that beta testing has been going on for some months.

If you wish to call them, you can use 0845 67267864 or 01932 454358. Heres the support address:
Customer Support Centre
PO Box 479
GATESHEAD
NE9 9BJ

UK Head Office is:
Samsung House
1000 Hillswood Drive,
Chertsey
KT16 0PS
01932 455000

Samsung Exec office direct line 01932 455788.

I have just fired off a "to the point" email to Korea HQ via their service system (the public have no access), and to the head of the repairs dept. at CPW to see if he will get involved.

I apologise to those of you waiting for the official FroYo, it out of my hands to a certain extent but I want answers and will get them.

If you guys wish to do so, please pm me with the answers you get from support or head office. Im doing my best to sort this out when I get a spare five mins here and there. :D

Ditto!!

btw charlie, email notification has now decided to work but I can't make the bloody thing connect to Kies. Tried on my XP desktop and laptop, detects the phone but then says it failed to retrieve device information. It did work once to establish that the firmware was up to date but not again :(

Yep had same problem with Vista - Follow FF's advice with Kies, also see my earlier post about the USB fix, which is a code you enter into the phone via the keypad to access a hidden menu.

I tried FF's suggestions, tried my XP laptop that has no other USB connections. When I connect USB, the Apollo vibrates for a few seconds but there is no indication on the display anywhere that the USB has connected.

I have searched but cannot find your post regarding a code for a USB fix :?
