Keypad problem

I got a gift of a Scroll Tab but the problem I have is with keypad? When I try to hook up to my wi-fi and put it my password, the keypad is all over the place? For example, when I try to change to the numbers and hit the 123 button, a letter "a" comes. I have to use my nail to carefully tab in very corner and if I am lucky, it will change to number pad. Then when I tab "7", it registers as a 6?
Any help would be appreciated.

What is the model of the Scroll you have?

Its a Scroll Essential Tablet PC.

Not really. I still have to be very careful where I touch screen. I have developed a "knack" and can manage to log in
