Tried to download an app from Amazon, You can download the apk file from the UK and install the appstore application on your Android device, but the market itself is not accessible, it keeps asking for a 1 click phone number?

That would probably be the phone number tied to your Amazon account?
1-Click is their service that you use to buy items without entering payment details or using a checkout. You probably have to set your Amazon account up to use 1-Click before you can use the app store.

This is just my guess though.

I had the same problem with my Excel. My guess is that Amazon see your device as a phone. I got round this for my Excel by giving Amazon my mobile number ( a completely seperate device) and it let me in. Can't get the weekly free apps though without creating a pseudo USA account. If you do decide to create a pseudo USA based account, don't use any of your existing Amazon account details or they may get very cross with you and block your access altogether.

The Amazon App Store is working in the UK now.

I got it working on my Excel when it was spoofed as a Nexus 7 but I haven't tried since I went back to ICS.
