Faulty in the Extreme...

After buying iPad 2(s) for both my kids I could not afford (justify) buying one for myself.

Really excited when I saw the Scroll Extreme for half the price in the UK.

Bought one and have been REALLY impressed. That is until I noticed I had a spot along the length of the screen where the screen would not respond to touch. First noticed this when scrolling up and down web pages. It would stop or judder. I thought it was my finger at first, until I received an email with a link. When the screen was in portrait mode with and the link was at the top, the link would not work. Rotate to landscape, link worked, rotate to portrait (but upside down), so the link was at the top of the screen (obviously) but the screen "physically" a different way round, and the link worked. Added blank lines to move the hyperlink down, and when the link was back in the "faulty zone" it failed again.

Ok, on the phone to eBuyer and very disappointed that I have to wait over a week for them to send a replacement.

I also noticed a "buzzing" noise that others have stated, and also when using the keyboard, if I didn't press the "M" key to the right of the "M" it would enter 2 letters "NM". But I put that down to the faulty screen, as it would align to the faulty area.

I've also seen posts of many other returns to eBuyer for other faults, non charging, dust under screen glass, etc.. I'm concerned that others have said the stocks are low. I just hope I get a GOOD faultless replacement.

I was very impressed with the Scroll Extreme, I just hope my experience is down to one faulty device and not a common issue with build quality.

Glad I found this forum through a Google search, will be back when my replacement Scroll Extreme is delivered as the forum looks like it has many knowledgeable and interesting posts.

My replacement came back today, unfortunately it still had stuff under the glass -_-. No buzzing or battery problems yet though.

I'm getting worried now too....ebuyer received my RMA yesterday after similar problems with the screen including dust particles. I was told Storage Options no longer had stock so would have to deal with eBuyer for replacement.

I think if my replacement is another faulty one, if I get one, I will return it for refund....it seems £180 is too good to be true!

Shame that it's let down by quality control issues.

i really cant understand the poor QC of the extreme as the excel is made in the same factory which did not have these QC problems and the device has been avaiable for a while under a different name so its not like it has not had time for Feedback unless the factory has made changes on the line?

I agree with you Mitre, I can't understand it either, the Excel is fine with none of these issues.
Not sure what the problem is with these units.

Can't think of an excuse for it either, it's not like they would have gone somewhere cheaper to manufacture them, or at least, the price doesn't reflect this. Essentially it has the same innards as the Excel, just a larger screen, but costs almost twice as much. I had assumed that the price increase was because of a higher quality product. So weird. I hope some kind of fix comes for the video streaming issues that seems to affect every device so far.

I would love to help you guys on this but I don't have the Extreme, so I suspect you may be waiting a longtime, unless Storage Options sort themselves out.

Still waiting for my replacement.....

If I don't get it by Friday, or if I do and its not up to scratch, then I will be seeking my money back.

Have said it is an excellent device for the money, but that can only be if :-

1. I actually have it to use, and not sitting in eBuyers warehouse

and

2. It works....

If I get no joy, will have to put an extra £80 for an iPad 2.

Just heard that eBuyer have accepted it as faulty and ship date of replacement being 19th April.

So fingers crossed the new one will be perfect.... or it will be money back this time.
