Scroll Excel 4.0

Hi guys,

I just joined the forum having purchased an Excel with Gingerbread on it on eBay for a steal. I've been installing custom roms on my phones for the last few years and bought the Excel so I could have a play around, maybe create some of my own images.

I'm interested in installing 4.0 on it and have noticed Storage Options did release an Excel with 4.0 on it, which appears to have the same hardware (on the face of it anyway).

Is this rom compatible with my Excel and if so does anyone know where I can get it?

If not, what's the best all round rom people would recommend? ICS or JB?

Many thanks,

Matt

p.s. sorry if I'm asking questions that've already been asked, I have searched the forum a bit.

Hi Matt, you are right to be cautious as Storage Options have released a whole group of tablets now all with the Excel name but a few of these are vastly different and do not share a common OS image.

To be safe - can you post your build details which can be found in "about tablet" in the system settings.

I suspect you can flash ICS quite safely but as regards JB well some people have not found this completely stable - you would have to try it yourself and see but this will not be the JB ROM advertised by Storage Options for the Excel II - if you flash this ROM you will almost certainly end up bricked until you repair things.

You can however, try CM10 from XDA devekopers and see if you like it.
Personally, myself after flirting with various versions of ICS and JB on my own 1st edition Excel, I eventually settled for the Yarvick stock ICS rom which I can point you to on the forum if you can't find it yourself.

Of course, the usual caveat is as always that these tasks are all carried out at your own risk.
If you don't feel confident, then don't do it.

Just to add, if it gives you supported guidance, I flashed the Yarvick stock rom. All went ok and the Excel is a much better experience
All the Lip-synch issues have gone as well.

With respect, if you need to ask that question be very careful that you don't end up with a brick.
The Yarvick ROM should be flashed with Livesuite, I suggest you take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fATLTulwdQg

Cheers TC,

Was 99% sure it was a livesuite job, just that other nagging 1% worried me, thats why I asked.

Have flashed ROM's before but has been a while.

Anyway, now having a play on the Excel with the Yarvik ROM and am pretty impressed.

Jackpot

Hi all,

I have recently purchased the Scroll Excel III model number - 60089.

I want to change the ROM on this into something much more suitable. I have played around before on a Galaxy Note but never on a Tab.

Help please!

Its a 4.1 JB

Thank you in advance
