Well my Excel and I have spent the last week or so on Suggsy89's CM10 Jellybean + the XDA SD card fix + Charlie's Boot logo image re-sizer and I have suffered with ever increasing random reboots, an apparently working SD card that still refuses to allow download of additional data for Asphalt 5 and a performance which gives increasing app freezes which even despite running fix permissions in Rom Manager is so unpredictable and unreliable that I decided that for the time being at least it just had to go and I have come back once more to the Yavik 264 ROM supplied as a Yarvik 260/264 support update file on the their site.
My tablet has been spoofed/recognised by Playstore as a Nexus 7, a Tab7012, a Samsung Galaxy i9001, a Tab M701c, a Tab 97FC, an unknown allwinner A10, and an unknown Scroll Excel but of all these my personal choice at present (until JB is sorted out properly) is the Yarvik Tab264 ROM which flashes directly onto the Excel using Livesuite - but you do lose CWM, however the tablet remains rooted.

After flashing the Yarvik rom:
http://bit.ly/11EtzYG I find the start-up is clean and relatively fast, I can install Asphalt 5 additional data files without problem which wont download on CM10 -JB. With the Yarvik ROM apps don't suddenly freeze or misbehave, there is a more sophisticated feel about this rom which is build no 97F2-D1-H1-H01-1663.20120905 - Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 using kernel version 3.0.8+ paco@inet#14 - build date Wed Sep5.15.56.24 CST 20102 and it is provided with an excellent ICS manual.
In fact, I have yet to find something significantly bad to say about this ROM
The only possible criticism I may have that doesn't affect the reliability or the speed of the system is that this ROM has a huge system partition of 503 MB which does rob you of some of your inbuilt storage space. I suspect this is necessary for same of the extra bells and whistle this ROM has which include Volume soft keys, a better USB notification interface and for those who like this sort of thing it has face unlock as well - however, I found this very hit and miss but I believe this is a general problem with face recognition software anyway. It also has an update option built in to the system tools which I suspect may eventually sport a proven Yarvik released JB update.zip which you first need to load onto the internal SD memory but can then just use the inbuilt update function in the system tools.
When you connect to your PC via USB a notification states "Connected as an installer" as well as the usual "USB debugging connected and also "USB connected" thereafter as standard operation.
If anyone else should decide to give this ROM a fair trial I would like to hear your experiences.
As we all tend to use our tablets for own own specific purposes some ROMs may appear better than others.
I use my tablet for mostly streaming TVcatchup and playing Sentinal III and Asphalt 5 (I can get Ashalt 6 to run but it really is a bit too demanding of both my skills and the tablets's CPU.)
Note: This ROM link above is hosted on iDrive which does not allow simultaneous file download so if you can't get the file due to being busy downloaded by someone else, try again at a different time.
