Scroll Excel Charger

Hey guys

I have started to notice the charger tip bending slightly and the protective sleeve close to the plug has pulled away.

I was wondering if either someone knew the correct type of charger description I need to search for as when I put 'small pin tablet charger' I don't necessarily see what I need, or even if anyone can point me towards an actual charger.

Also it would be nice to have a much longer cable than the stock one has.

Cheers guys.

I don't know if you can find a better price but this is what you are looking for according to their description:

i didnt know whether i could get a longer cable.

another option is a long mini usb to usb and connect that way. a really long one of those should be cheap.

Your logic is OK so long as you understand that the range of Scroll tablets with Mini USB only trickle charge, so will take longer to reach full.

I believe some of the later Scroll tablet models only charge by Micro USB but this may simply be a cost saving exercise.

thanks mate.

i have just tested it with a short mini usb lead i had. yes it took a few hours to charge but it also takes a long time with the normal charger. i would be confident saying about the same length of time.

i think i'll order a longer lead and that should be fine.

I just popped in looking for answers concerning USB charging and found this thread.
My granddaughter now has my Excel and the charging port seems to be flaky now :-(
I managed to charge it albeit slower by plugging it into my Freesat+ HD box.
I then tried my Nexus 7 charger by simply plugging a mini USB cable into the charger.
This charged it fine also.
Does anyone think cutting the end of my spare Excel charger and wiring up a mini USB end would be OK?
She normally charges it over night anyway so the increased charging time is not an issue. But at least my little princess can charge the Excel.
Cheers guys.
Believe it or not I miss trying out Suggsy's firmware releases now :-(

Hi Blueeagle, with the obvious caveat of getting the polarity right when you make this lead I can only think that the original Excel charger is rated at 2 amp which is why this charging method is quicker against the 500ma usb rating. However, my understanding is that the tablet will only take what the mini USB circuit will allow anyway.

Have you considered selling you original charger on ebay (there always seems to be a market for them) for £5.00 then buy one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mains-Wall-Ch ... 4aa8b3ba06 for £3.00 and put £2.00 in your pocket?

UIPDATE: I just went to buy one of those chargers myself and ebay have blocked the seller for some reason - possibly a take your money and run merchant - however, using the original USB lead that came with your Excel she can charge the tablet using this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-PIN-UK-USB- ... 4d070db510 and the original lead.

Cheers once again for all your help.
I had concerns about the fragility of the charger port when a child is using it.
I may just get that cheers.
Thankfully these tablets can be charged via USB.
