when i put media onto the 32gb memory card, it wont play on the player, i have to connect the player up to the laptop and move them over onto the internal memory, obviously i want to be able to use the memory to take films away with me, so is there an easy way to get the player to use the memory card to store and play them on ? and if not is there a simple way to move them from the memory card to the tablet memory that does not involve connecting it to a desktop.

sorry not written in techno speak, so please be kind and reply in non-techno speak - some of us oldies need a bit of hand holding

Hi Laural, you don't say which video player you are using. Some players - such as Mobo player - allow you to choose which folder/card to scan for stored videos. The usual default search for video's location on a lot of players is simply 'sdcard' which Scroll tablets interpret as the internal memory partition labelled SD.
If you want the video player to search for films elswhere (i.e.your external sd card) then you may have to change the default location from 'mnt/sdcard', to 'mnt/extsd'.

Dependant of which player you are using, the default can usually be changed by opening the player and then pressing the menu button to show the player options. You can usually browse to the required folder and then set it as the new default location.

Alternatively, you can simply put your films on your external sd card and then browse to them using a file browser like ES file explorer and then clicking on the film will bring up your player.

its the default player that was loaded onto it when we got it, so i press file manager, then media, and mnt/sdcard/media is shown - it will play that,
if its /mnt/extern_sd it wont play them

ok, will have a look at finding the player, although its not listed, but it is there, as it plays them - oh confused.com

You may find that trying to play HD video from a class 4 card will be jerky.
Thankfully, we have the SD Association's real speed classes to consult.

Not all sellers advertise the card classification but it can usually be determined by the number on the card as shown above.

thanks for that trashcooky, i made sure i bought good ones, they are class 10, when they play they play fine, its just getting them to play, when we connect the HDMI lead to the telly they play straight on, its just if you are trying to play them directly on the player there is an issue
