I do have the Android SDK and the needed drivers and adb installed on my computer but I only really know that I need them and that's kinda where I go blank. I don't know what to do to get it to flash, any ideas what could be wrong? Or should I just give up, 'cause i'm really new at this...

Regarding adb not found, you must define the path for adb otherwise Windows won't know where to look for it.
If you are following Suggsy's "How to" then you will need to take some time to learn a little about adb otherwise it is like trying to talk to someone in a language they cannot understand. If you don't feel confident then be very careful otherwise you can turn your beloved tablet into an expensive paperweight. And remember, although the updates the devs provide are usually excellent, you undertake using them completely at your own risk.
