What do you like/dislike about ICS on the Excel?

Postby Charlie » March 14th, 2012, 6:34 pm

Hi guys & gals,

Thought it might be a good discussion topic, now that some of you have ICS on the Excel, what do you like/dislike about ICS compared to GB on Excel tab?

like :
speed wifi latches on to router
touch either side of homescreen scrolls through home pages(dont have to swipe)
left and right panes in settings + more options
lypsync perfect

Dislike:
battery drain is bit more than GB but not too much of a prob
no sky go app (oh yeah it dont work on GB too)
nand changes so we cant get back to gb easily
screen density was too small but i can change that (lego vs Megabloks)daves rom was too big

Thanks @Mitre, I am most pleased to hear about ICS not having a lip-sync issue.

You ever tried the hackers keyboard? The ICS one sounds similar.

I love the fact that flash videos seem much smoother now, and not a chugg fest.
I don't like the typing. The keyboard on occasions' stops and thinks about things. And then carries on.
But that won't stop me loving it.
Oh yes, I love the swipe to close feature too.

All sounds absolutely brilliant.
Do you think it might be possible when everyone has got the best tweaks out of all this that we can tidy up the How to flash ICS to a better organised format: :)

Something like "How to flash ICS for dummies" - or am I being a wimp and asking too much? :(

It seems that even some of you experts have manged to get your knickers in a bit of a twist from time to time with this project so I guess I speak for many who are not so gifted (yet :( ) when I say that if we can have a tidy up on this project and a re-edited, clear step by step what, how and why to get the very best version of the Scroll modded ICS on the Excel and things like where you get the right version of CWM from etc, and some clarity on the issues that have arisen from usb drivers etc.

I know that some of these issues have their own 'subject' posts which are limited to their part of the overal project they refer to, but it is not easy to follow some of the necessary topics required to:
1. Find the necessary CWM to
2. Safeguard and back-up your Excel
3. flash to ICS
4. and get back again to your original stock image back-up.

I expect to get some flack over this posting from all the developers, but it is a bit like getting stuck behind a learner driver, we may grit our teeth but we all had to learn somewhere. I for one have always found the value of knowledge is in sharing it and I know it can be trying sometimes for the gifted members of the forum to come down to the novices level. Having said that this is the best and most friendly forum I have ever had the privilige of being a menber of.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

@TC,

Great points you made there, it is hard for all of us to follow as it has gone into more of a development thread. I a sure a cleaner thread will be started when the ICS issues get sorted.

well spotted Trashcooky i was hovering over a post on this issue then deleted it before posting the thread has turned into a DEv thread but then it needed to!
I like you feel that now a seperate thread could be made for a step by step guide to help members get to ICS without fear of getting it wrong
I am back to My gingerbread CWM5 restored image now but will go back to ICS soon (came back via Tablo7 using livesuite) but yes time for some one to post a new how to and leave the other one for Developement
Guys what do you think
