Excel Owners Please Read!

This is a list of apps that have caused serious issues when used on an Excel - I.e. Not being able to boot past the 'balloon Logo'.

I am not saying that these apps are bad in general (as one of them, for example Z4root, I have used before with no issues, when I used it on my 1st gen tab with 2.1) but they do seem to cause serious issues on the Excel.

DON'T use these on your Excel
Busybox - (Stephen Stericson)
z4root - (RyanZA)

Use these with CAUTION on your Excel
SetCPU* - (MichaelHuang)

*Not 100% sure on SetCPU, it could have been because of using the wrong governors.

in another thread some people may remember i had to return my first excel due to not getting post the balloon screen. i had installed busybox as i didn't know how to check if it had it already on and if i needed it.

if it is now confirmed to cause problems, how was this confirmed and did someone manage to sort it out after? just curious if i could have sorted it instead of returning it.

@marcknuckle - Have a look here https://scrolltabletforum.sevo.uk/site/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=1978&start=10 from the last post on the page onwards.

The solution is a testament to the dogged determination of @Charlie and @Mitre to sort out a problem for @blueeagle69 when others would surely have thrown in the the towel!

I am sure setCPU should be on the list too. As there was a post about this app causing the balloon screen issue. I have used that app on many devices without problems, not tried it on the Excel yet.

I'll add something. Not really an app though and it's probably obvious to everybody.

Live Wallpapers.

They work fine yes, but slow down the Excell considerably. When I dusabled it, it actually reducedthe lag whilst live streaming I was doing in my browser (Liveonlinefooty and also tvcatchup) to a now very watchable standard.
