As most of you will know, there is an ongoing issue with sync when playing videos. Im trying to see if there is a pattern to this and need your help. Could you all please post the following info

1) How bad is the lag you experience?
2) Who is your isp?
3) Please do a speed test at http://www.speed.io and post the results but NOT your ip address. ( down / up speed, max connections & ping)

Note: please do the speed test from your pc and scroll using the standard browser.

This info may help to narrow down the culprit.

blueagle is checking his since he flashed my backup and think its better hes going to test more today
when i got mine it was from an evaluation batch (the address on the delivery note ) just wondering if mine and the first ones that got sent out to mags and the gadget show had been made as perfect as possible ??

would they do something like that as or is it just chance

Yep - If you remember back to the 1st gen scroll - the 1st batch of Scrolls (which I had one, fw 0.94) it had working market on it from the start (free apps only) and no issues with the tablet. The later fw versions all had various issues.

Most likely this is because when a new production run is done the new fw gets put on. They probably did a change to fix an issue or tweak it, but not test it properly and it caused other things to become an issue that were not one before. I have seen this with software many times before.

Here's my info:

1) Lag: About 1 sec out on iPlayer. The better quality the video, the less of a problem it is. Almost no issue on top quality video.
2) ISP: Plusnet
3) Stats PC / Excel:
Down: 4812 / 4289
Up: 357 / 384
Connections: 1204 / 1121
Ping: 59 / 64

Hope this helps.

What am I thinking? ohhh you really dont want to know that!

Seriously..I have a very small idea that the lag issues may be isp related. All im trying to do is to see if a pattern builds up of, say, one particular ISP or area. I know from my time on the virgin media forum that a lot of users experience lag on iplayer etc and it has been put down to VM buggering about with the connection / streaming.

The funny thing is that I access iPlayer through a satellite broadband connection (run by Mobinil) and my iPlayer lag isnt too bad (but still noticeable) It just seems very odd that members seem to experience very bad lag from within the UK and yet mine isnt too bad from 3500 miles away.

Of course, I may be way off the mark here... it has been known to happen. :D

I wonder if your excel does indeed have an earlier firmware version. Im in convo with Paul from SO regarding another Excel matter this week, he has asked me to test a few things and report my findings. This thread wasnt one of them its just my warped technically minded brain clutching at the preverbial straw.

I have also sent out a few emails to various phone manufacturers R&D departments (Samsung / HTC to name but two) who have emailed me back asking for certain files from the excel to have a look at. I have done so and now await a response. Will keep you posted.
