I was looking for an alternaitive method to move the large data files to the SD card, GL to SD is OK, but you have to manually mount each time.

Then I found this:

Works really well, you can move the whole Android/Data directory or individual folders. It also auto mounts on boot so it's pretty seamless.

That sounds a good app.
I will have a look at that, when I get my Excel back.
