I'm trying to work out how I can connnect the Excel (through the USB socket) to my network via an Ethernet cable rather than wirelessly.
My understanding of Android is pretty basic... I've trawled Google, but can't find anything helpful that I can understand. Most opinions I've read just suggest using Wi-Fi or an Ethernet to Wi-Fi dongle.
USB to Ethernet adapters are available http://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-LAN01-Usb-lan-RJ45/dp/B000CCZP88/ref=acc_glance_computers_ai_ps_t_3 (thanks for the link Mitre), but they seem to take care of the physical connection and rely on the operating system for the driver, which Android doesn't seem to possess natively.
I've hooked the Excel up to the USB output of a powerline (Ethernet over the mains) adapter, but nothing's recoginised.
There are Android tablets http://www.amazon.co.uk/GOOGLE-ANDROID-TABLET-FLYTOUCH-CAMERA/dp/B005ZWCQV4/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1326815788&sr=8-4 equipped with an Ethernet (RJ45) port as standard, so it ought to be possible to make it work.
I think the Excel needs a driver to enable Ethernet via USB, but I'm a bit lost as to how to go about locating one and installing it.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
