Android 4/ICS for excel??

i just checked on the support area of the storage options site and clicked on firmware and most have a 'download firmware' but the excel has a 'contact us' button.

has anyone contacted SO to ask if the excel will be getting ICS and if so, will it be a case of browsing to that same section eventually when they allow it and clicking 'download firmware' or will it involve a PC?

I would love the Excel to receive Icecream Sandwhich (Android 4), especially now that Google have made the source code readily available it shouldn't be much of a problem for SO to do. I also think it would be another feather in their hat and is another selling point for them. All the big boy tablets that have just come out are already saying that they will be making ICS available.

So I *Sign* :)

has anyone found a developer thread for the excel on somewhere like xda?

if it doesn't get ics officially then surely the experts on those sort of sites will be able to sort it.

I was thinking of contacting cyanogenmod Team to see if they would build ICS CM9 for the excel they would want a donation but if enough of us chipped in it might be worth it cant see SO doing it

sounds a good idea if it is simple enough to get on there.

I wouldn't mind paying towards development, if enough of us where willing to pay. I still think that SO should be speaking to the manufacturer and sorting that out though!

I'm still getting to grips with 2.3/Gingerbread, so 4/ICS is not top of my list.

However, has anyone asked SO what their plans are with regards to 4/ICS?

I wouldn't necessarily expect that they will be reading all our posts to see what we're discussing, so might it be worth you asking a question of them directly before looking to commission a developer to port 4/ICS to the Excel?

I'm not sure if it's bad etiquette to post the same reply more than once, but I'm doing so in all of the Android 4 / ICS Excel threads I can find.

I'm sure the mods will put me right if I've erred! As it's easier to apologise than ask permission... sorry!

I've emailed Paul at SO to find out what their plans are for updating the Excel to 4 / ICS. I'll let you know what he has to say.

@excel - No worries, nice one for sending the email off.

(Also thanks for making me realise there are 3 threads on ICS for the Scroll Excel.)
