Random Crashes/reboot

Postby fergiet » December 31st, 2011, 11:24 am

Hi

My Scroll Excell (1 wk old) keeps crashing/rebooting for no apparent reason. Sometimes at start up and sometimes when on email/playing a game/ or even when its doing nothing !

Anyone else had this ? Any ideas about the cause ?

Newbie

Thanks :?: :?: :?:

Hi. Minedoes the same. Dont know if its a coincidence but its been running slower since i installed Facebook. One thing to remember with these tablets is there's a heck of a lot of stuff running in the background. Downloaded apps checking for updates and adverts etc. Its annoying but as soon as you find a solution, please share it.

Only had mine a couple of days, but have loaded lots of apps onto it so far. Always check the persmissions before installing, I avoid anything that runs on power up. If you must have an app that does this, then install something like Gemini App Manager which allows you to set an app so that it doesn't start when android does. If all else fails you can always restart again, by doing a hardware reset (from settings\privacy\factory data reset).

I am having unexplaned crashes and rebooting, dont know what is causing this to happen .
To say the least , I am thinking of sending this back.
There seems to be several issues with this tablet and going by the posts I have read it will not be fixed at all.
I cant see storageoption fixing it as they import the tablet and have no say in the updates , as it seems to be a generic tablet with there name on it.
Prove me wrong storageoptions and reply to this issue.

I would like to know if there are owners who have NOT had crashes/reboots with the Excel. This would encourage me to carry on with mine and not send it back.

Anyone ?

No problem with mine and the wife's, been using them both loads since Christmas day, no drop out, no crashing - very impressed. Only gripe is lip sync problems on video playback, bbci in particular .....

I've had 1 or 2 forced closes but that is something that all android devices get, but other than that my tablet is very stable. I've installed two full pages of apps and its working like a dream.

However I did at the very beginning have problems with using the hidden market but after I did a hard reset to factory settings it has been great.

The only issue I now have is a one that lots have reported and that is to do with audio syncing with video.

Try installing Gemini app manager https://market.android.com/details?id=c ... pmgr&hl=en
and see how many apps are running at startup, you can then set them to not start.

I have 2 or more crashes a day now which often coincide with changes in hardware state i.e. Wifi turned on or off, taken on or off charge, wakeup or sleep. Although once or twice was a game crashing so that could be faulty app.

I use ES Task Manager and removed a few startups but it hasn't helped that much.

Android can be flakey but we have 3 Samsung phones which bomb once a fortnight if that. So twice a day is unstable even by Android standards.

That plus lip sync issues are stacking against keeping this. Shame because most the time its brilliant for the cash.

Received few days ago. No crashes or reboots, very stable. Have audio sync problem, but researching internet, so do many other makes of Androids. I have a concern about visible "bleeding" on the screen where the speaker is mounted behind, when there is finger pressure on back near speaker when holding tablet, I may start a new thread on this.

Maybe I have a dud then, I bought before Xmas from a shop who could have had the stock there for a little while.

Mine has crashed and been unstable from the moment I got it, it even crashed in the hour or so I spent testing it before wrapping it up!

It was once or twice a day but I think its getting worse. Maybe I installed something bad but all I can compare it to is the three other Android phones we have in the house which rarely crash even with a ton of stuff installed on them.

This thread plus a quick perusal of other threads will tell you that I am NOT the only one though.

Most the happy customers seem to have received theirs very recently I wonder if there is a difference in firmware?
