im in the process of looking at various tablets in order to decide which one to buy

from what i have seen scroll excel is perfectly smooth on the web, plays excellent video quality, and....well....think the kitchen sink is in there somewhere.

the thing is also on my list of considerations are tablets like the Samsung galaxy 7" which costs about double.

what exactly do these "bigger brand" and bigger price tag tablet have that the excel doesn't. thanks for the help

dave.

Basically the answer is Android marketplace ( officially) and accurate lip-sync on video playback.
In reality it's also the amount of accessories available and third party hardware specifically made for it, as the Excel doesn't really have any!

You can however connect dozens of generic USB devices and universal accessories. You just need a bit of trial and error, to see if it works or not!

surely the lip sink isn't that major of an issue and could be fixed with a tiny, tiny patch, why havent storage options done it already if its such a wide spread issue?
accessories iv seen a fair few of them for the scroll excel.

basically all i want to do on my tablet is to read comics/manga, browse the web at home and maybe play music. the only thing that is making me consider a more expensive tablet is the screen size (for double page spreads in the comics.) though for the price difference and the portability......maybe not so much.

If the Lip Sync issue doesn't bother you too much then you can't go far wrong, it's been fantastic so far! I'm very happy with it :)

Can you list the name and model number of the ones you've found please, as I've only found the keyboard case so far and that doesn't fit properly!

Thanks.

Very impressed by the games on the Excel. Fast and smooth with fantastic accelerated graphics.

On the the Market front. It's very easy to fix.
In fact I just sideloaded Android Market 3.4.4. It's running great, and supports in-app billing.

Which I needed badly for Blood and Glory :)

in short, no, iv seen them in passing and didn't really take note of them, but I've seen HDMI, USB cables, cases and keyboards i cant vouch for how effective they are as i don't even have a scroll excel yet. a quick visit to the storage options site however does show a few of them. Also just because it doesn't say storage options on the case doesn't mean it wont work for it. i have an Asus laptop and a dell case (Asus didn't make one) and it fits perfectly.

what accessories are you looking for exactly?

Nothing in particular, it's more a case of knowing what fits and works. Generic USB and HDMI cables and covers/ cases are a no brainer, but some things, like the keyboard case from Amazon are advertised as being suitable, but are clearly not!

Just as a related side note, someone has started a thread regarding hardware that they have tested and if it works or not. That's more the type of thing I was thinking of. :-)

i own a Scroll Excel 3D, a UMPC http://www.umpcportal.com/products/TabletKiosk/eo v7110 and a Blackberry Playbook.
i think the Scroll holds up very well against these titans.
The Playbook has the best screen, hardware, web browsing. arguably the best tablet experience and if Android works well on it then it will be the best thing for me.

The v7110 has buttons and I love buttons. It's got a mouse thingy joystick. Left and right mouse button.

The scroll is a good compromise. It does well. I've sometimes put the Playbook down and picked up the scroll to browse. I like Android. I like Android market. I think my productivity will be best on the Playbook.

If I was travelling for leisure then I'd be tempted to take the scroll.
