for anyone who already owns an excel, what does it weigh? ebuyer states over 900g, surely not!
apparently it is pre-rooted, does this mean i will only have to install superuser to get it fully rooted?
mine will take another week approx to come and i want to be prepared, thanks.

Hi my excell came pre rooted busybox is installed
No superuser or terminal emulator
WARNING ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING YOU CAN BRICK YOUR SCROLL
First i got terminal emulator from market open it type su press return if the $ changes to # on the next line you have root
Click menu close window
If you have root-
Next install supruser from market open app and update the binary this moves the app into your system and makes it usable(DONT DO THIS IF YOU WANT TO REMOVE THE APP LATER AS YOU ALMOST CERTAINLY WONT BE ABLE TO REMOVE IT ONCE DONE)
Thats it you have all you need to mash up your Excel

This is not exactly scientific but its the best i could do with what was available
got 1kg of sugar which was opened and had about 80% left in the bag so 800grms
held that in one hand Excel in othe hand Excel is loads lighter prob about 250gm or so
weighs about the same as my kindle 3g in its leather case lighter than the old scroll
thats as near as i can get

due to the problem it is being sent back and replaced. when i get the replacement i don't want any problems and i am wary what not to put on it.
any ideas what i should avoid doing that could have caused the problem? i do want to put busybox and superuser as i can't see them being the cause as it comes pre rooted as confirmed by the terminal emulator.
any suggestions?

It sounds like you had setcpu - set to run from boot and had the cpu speed too low and/or used the wrong cpu governor. (hence why you had the problems) A hard factory reset from the recovery menu should have fixed it, by restoring the Scroll to factory settings.
