The Excel can connect ok but drops the connection within a minute or so. This is happening while browsing, no screen time-out.

Same here, this is to be an xmas prezzy for someone else and I checking everything is ok before wrapping. Toggling wifi off/on gets a reconnect for me but it drops again within a minute regardless of ext pwr or connection policy. Same after reboot.

If you're having a problem with this please can you contact us direct. As yet I'm not aware of any problems, but this sounds similar to an issue with certain routers we've had with the Essential - we have a patch for this.

Please contact us and we'll get you a fix.

thanks.

I have many devices connected to wifi router including other android tabs. No problem with any but Excel. Router would not make one device drop a connection and not another.

Update: wifi appears ok today after another reboot. I set it back to disconnect on screen time-out. On exiting suspend wifi is disabled but it does reconnect automatically once enabled.

Battery life looking good so far. Performance and responsiveness good. One browser crash so far.

Only thing that stopped me buying two of these is the availability of kernel sources. As a general rule I longer buy tablets unless the kernel source has been released. Since this tablet is a prezzy for someone else to replace iPod Touch it's a keeper.

I was able to connect my new Xenta 720a HD cam and transfer pics/video. This camera can also be used as a webcam but the Camera app had no option to select another (external) camera.

Hardware-wise the one big disappointment is lack of BT. This is a penny pinching omission by the manufacturer that prevents stowing the tablet in a bag while still listening to music via a BT headset or using a BT kb for long emails.

What router do you have? We're trying to recreate this problem but without success as yet.

Thanks.

Just to add further to what Mitre said above - make sure the wifi channel you use is not above 10 - and make sure it is the strongest channel for you (this is different for everyone - as it depends on other wifi users in your area and how close they are to you) - I find channel 9 very good - but had to move to 7 as new neighbours set up a wifi network and must have used channel 9 - and for me this caused a problem with my laptop, but not the Scroll.
