@Mitre

I have just used unimg.exe to open up the .img but have a long list of files that I can not do anything with as it needs linux (I think)

can you do anything with these (these are the ones I need to get into) I think they can be mounted as ext4 filesystem in Linux

RFSFAT16_SYSTEM_000000000.hdr
RFSFAT16_SYSTEM_000000000

If so I will upload them - the 1st one is 1kb and the 2nd is 272,887kb

Cheers

@Mitre
I just remembered what I was supposed to be doing.
I just had a test with the Youtube app.
This drove me insane before, but now with your firmware, it's pretty-damn good.

I also downloaded a Youtube clip on my PC. Transferred that to the tablet. And to my amazement, that was pretty-much perfect too?

Hi all,

We seem to a have a good improvement on this issue by using Mitre's earlier firmware version. However this is not a complete fix for this issue, but it's probably the best we have at this time.

I have been trying some other lib .so files & various mods, but as we can not get a copy of the momo9 files to test those (as they seem not to have any a/v sync issues), there is nothing more I can do at this moment in time.

Hopefully SO will provide and update.zip to fix this problem, once and for all.

Cheers

@Charlie - Do you know if SO are aware of your / @Mitre's / @blueeagle69's findings about the different firmware versions? If not, and if someone can let me know the firmware versions concerned, I'm happy to send Paul an email.

As a matter of interest, how can I find out which firmware version I'm using?

I don't know if this one has passed me by and everyone knows about it already, but SO have produced a 'Video Playback on Scroll - Help Guide'. Looks like it was created on 20th January, don't know when it was added to the site.

You can find it at: http://www.storageoptions.com/assets/docs/january2012/Video%20Playback%20On%20Scroll%20Help%20Guide%20v.1.0.pdf

I think Fonefixer, has let them know about the finding on the FW versions.

To find out your version go to >settings>about device> (then scroll down to where it says 'Build number')

Only just seen that, thanks. That is a good guide for playback on the Excel from your own media that you have put on to the SD card in the Excel or for streaming from your PC media files - It does not help fix the issue with lip-sync when playing web video streams from the browser and the other a/v sync issues.

I didn't realise that 'Build Number' was the same as the firmware version... I have much to learn!

That's true, it does nothing to help the issues with existing video, but it might help us in the creation of new material.

Hi Excel and Charlie,
Just to let you know I am following this thread with great interest.
My Excel build is 28th Nov 2011 - although I'm not sure if this is good or bad?
I am having issues with lip sync when streaming video but NO sync issues when playing video files stored on the SDHC card.
To be fair my sound sync issues when web streaming are (currently) minimal but I have discovered that my situation deteriorates as bandwidth reduces - ie. I get a noticeable improvement when I shut down all other internet active services and strip the desktops of icons.

Nonetheless, I would be pleased to be able to fix this lip sync issue if possible and although I am not an idiot (I started out with a ZX81) I am a complete novice to Android (although I have had a cursory fling with Linux Ubuntu) so as I say I am watching this thread with great interest.

If I am able to contribute anything I will ceratinly do so but currently I am following you.

Regards,
Trashcooky.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Ive had recent conversations with Paul from SO over this. He has referred our findings to Shenzen in China where the devs are to look into it further.
My initial feeling is that we are unlikely to get an official cure for this inthe form of a downgrade to the earlier version.
SO have been unable to replicate the issue at this time, but i have pointed out that a widespread fault must exist due to the number of complaints.
As an aside, i have also asked them if we can have an official update which disables the phone apks, will keep you all posted.
