Would you like to see Ice Cream Sandwich on the Scoll Excel Tablet ?

Yes, but only if SO provide the upgrade.

POLL : Do we want Ice Cream Sandwich

I've had a reply back from Paul at SO... it's not what we were hoping for, but I've thanked him for clarifying the issue so promptly.

Here's his response
Android 4
We won't offer an upgrade to Android 4. We're just not geared up (financially or in people terms) to support this type of extra service. We're are starting to see Android 4 tablets become available on the market and perhaps we will bring one out this year, off the shelf, but our model does not have the room to offer users an upgrade path. Sorry.

Regards

Excel

It's a real shame as I'm posative that the hardware is more than capable of handling it! I can't help but detect profit consideration, over customer satisfaction creeping in near the end!

A well known Ricky Tomlinson catch phrase comes to mind, starting with the word "My"!

I wasn't born synical, but early 44 years of life made me this way! ;-) lol

So it's down to the community to get it working then. :-)

Hi,

I have a Tablo which I think is the same as the scroll excel.

Just to let you know the ICS Rom for the Ployo Momo9 works on the Tablo so should work on the Excel too.

There are a few issues I have found though:

1. Skype video calling works but the person at the other end gets green lines down the video of you.
2. In the gallery app if you edit images the changes dont work properly - image go all blank etc
3. It seemed really snappy at first - even quicker than 2.3 but it suddenly slowed down to a crawl after a few hours of general messing. A reboot sped things up but not ideal.

ICS is a much better OS than Gingerbread though - loving it so far.

@ Johnny - Welcome to a member of the Excel's extended family and thanks for the encouraging news.

@ Charlie - I found a couple of links:
The specs for the MOMO 9 from one of its vendors (for spec comparison purposes):
http://www.merimobiles.com/Ployer_MOMO9_Android_2_3_OS_Multipoint_Capacitive_p/meri0383.htm

A download source for the ICS update for the MOMO 9 (with instructions (chinese!) and video):
http://www.pandawillforum.com/showthread.php?8246-Android-ICS-4.0.1-firmware-for-All-Winner-Ployer-MOMO9

@ - Mitre is this where you downloaded the files from?

I've not attempted the download, so I don't know if will be successful.

I don't have a backup of my Excel, so I'm not thinking of trying this anytime soon.

On my phone so will post a proper reply later.

I got the one from the panda will site but not the one you linked to. There is another thread called something like 4.01 at last or something like that. Downloaded from that one.

I think it's the larger one which includes market and maps etc. I believe the smaller one doesn't include any of that.
