Anyone had any sort of a response for Storage Options yet on this issue?

No nothing yet. Still waiting. I'll be emailing again at this rate.
So the more people that email them the better.

Me neither, its been a week, even allowing for New Year its a bit poor.

I want to at least get a response from them before I decide to keep it or not.

I logged the video sync & wifi related crashes.

Hopefully SO might now be aware of this issue ;) - I am sure they will try do all that they can to sort it - Yes they should have replied by now, but I guess that they have a back log of emails, as most companies do at this time of year.

Saying that it would have been good if they sent a quick email to customers saying, "We are aware of this issue and trying to provide a solution to this problem as soon as we can.... blah blah blah" - At least valuable customers would feel heard and feel something was happing (even if it was not a fix at the time), anything is better than been kept in the dark.

I see that most of you posting in this thread are new to this forum, hi & welcome to you all :)

I have been an active member on this forum for over a year now, I don't work for SO - I am just a fan of Android OS and spend my free time helping others out with any Android issues, so hopefully they can have a great, fun experience with their Android devices - (Just in case any of you were wondering).

Hi gents,

Firstly, emails not being replied to - can you email me directly any emails you've not had replies to paul.evison@storageoptions.com. I'm confused as to why this isn't being picked up on and it's not good enough. Please forward your originals emails to me to follow up on.

Secondly, video lip syncing. It seems very likely that this issue is restricted to videos that are (as one poster puts it earlier in the thread) "encoded to death". We haven't see the issue recreated on "good" codecs i.e. everything we test with. We've been working on a response, explanation and guide to video codecs today to explain this and hopefully guide you as to best practice.

We need to check into iPlayer, wasn't aware of any issue - leave with me.

The "historic problems" with the original Scroll that Charlie mentions are a bit of a shock. The video playback and support is a real strength of the family - I'm not a techie and the 3D and HDMI output still blows me away! Charlie - can you expand please?

Sorry for the delay in reply, we'll help as best we can we can properly identify what is happening. As yet we haven't recreated this issue so we need to get on iPlayer tomorrow and this picked up.

Thanks for your patience.

Paul

I feel a bit bad now, that I should have brought this issue up in 2010 - but it was not an issue to me as I knew that the 1st scroll then was probably not capable of flash, when I bought it. However I thought that it could play back videos ok - it could have been the codecs and/or another issue - it is hard to track down, but to me it did not matter as it was not sold to really to do those things, whereas the excel is.

Sorry for going off topic, I know this thread is about the Excel. But with regards to the 1st gen Scroll, (as we know, the CPU in it did not support flash)

I used get_iplayer to get a copy of 'Click' (and a few other programmes) from the BBC iplayer feed - then tried to play it back on the scroll - I used various video apps and also tired to playback from internal memory, SD card, usb stick - (also via HDMI to a TV) they all suffered from lip sync issues.

Hope this helps

I'll be very happy if Scroll provide a fix for the BBCi player lip sync on the Excel, as I mentioned earlier, Youtube plays better, so maybe a flash conflict with the Scroll ... love the Excel, so fingers crossed.

If you are using the youtube app and have no issues - that is because it does not render video in flash (if you are accessing youtube via a browser, set in desktop mode it will use flash).

It does appear it might be more of a issue with flash (if you are not having issues with the youtube app, for video playback). I am sure it's not a hardware issue with the Excel, as it is more than able to preform well in flash related tasks.
