Like the style and your summary in getting to your goal.
I am curious about a point regarding Amazon Market - perhaps you can answer for me.

KingKong (you say is now installed) is the americanised version of SlideMe market which cames as firmware on the Excel. You also say that Amazon Market is now installed.

Taking these two points together suggests an americanised build - Amazon market will not allow you access to their weekly free apps unless you are (seen to be) in America. Can you actually download apps from Amazon Market?

Hi Trashcooky :)

Thanks :D Just so those reading this know, it is not supposed to be a guide, just a "How I did it".. if it was a guide I would do it much better... well, I'd like to think so as it is what I do as a job :)

I will try Amazon market (Amazon app Store) for you now :)

Well, I can get to it and view it, but I tried to download a free app (fruit slice) and it says I need to activate 1-click purchase... but I don't want to do that as I never pay for apps (cheapskate!)...but it looks like it tries to. maybe I need to setup 1-click even to buy amazon free apps?

EDIT: Looks like you do indeed need 1-click activated.. so I'll remove it from my tablet as I don't want accidental purchases, and I can't download free stuff :(

IN ADDITION

I have just run the CWM .bat file... will look into creating a backup and report back :)

Thanks mikenseli,

Of course you must have an Amazon account in the first place but a lot of people (myself included) would not use their tablet for secure online purchases. I have downoaded plenty of free books from Amazon but their weekly free app tells me I need to be in the US to get them. Of course you can spoof this but you need to open a seperate american addressed Amazon acount for this: tells you how to here http://www.bitterwallet.com/how-to-use- ... e-uk/42385
Then you can get their weekly free apps.
If it isn't broken then don't try to fix it!

Great perhaps I'll take a look :D Thanks :)

-------------
Righto so as above I have run the ClockworkRecovery file, and also downloaded the ROM Manager app.

Within the ROM Manager app, I chose FLASH ClcokworkMod, chose my "phone" model, and voila... "Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 5.x.x.x"

I then tried to create a backup from within the ROM Manager, I named it and the tablet rebooted with the words "android" in red....odd. Anywho, the tablet is working fine, and I am back into ROM Manager, and "Manage and Restore BAckups", yet no files exist... I will investigate!

So I have just chosen to reboot in Recovery mode (this is do-able from within ROM Manager)....again my "android" is red...tablet is booting up....confused now as it seems normal... however, something in the back of my mind is saying about button presses. On previous devices, and indeed this one when flashing firmware you have to hold various buttons... time to investigate again!

(On a seperate note, I also realised that while plugged into to the PC, pressing the notifications area (area around the factory clock) you can choose USB Storage, to allow moving of files between your PC and Tablet... I was wondering how to do this... now I know, and this opens all possibilities as I guess I can now move/update files perhaps... investigation into this too before too much play :))

Well I am a bit stumped on CWM5, but it looks like Settings button and power button will boot you into CWM5, at which point you can create and or restore to an img file.

I've also found out CWM5 creates an IMAGE file, a COMPLETE backup of your tablet... unlike the Titanium backup which only backs up apps and stuff... so CWM5 is deffo for the better.

Sadly my Tablet is out of power, and needs a charge, so further "play" will take another evening... plus the Wife is on my ass, as she has been on her own most the weekend....did I mention she was also on crutches?..Oops.

We are away next weekend, and its that reason I am trying to get the tablet working to a good level. I now have transffered movies/musi and picture to the tablet and can access it all, I have ICS, and FULL market access...

Big thanks to ALL those who have posted on this forum, who have replied to questions by others, and for all those talented script writers... :)

Mike signing off...for no :)

Very quick reply. Def Settings button and power button to get into CWM. But I couldn't create a backup but I don't yet have my SD card and I assume that is where it would store the img. Card should be here tomorrow so will try once that is fitted.

Hi - Another quick update, I solved the RED issue! :)

The Chainfire3D has a night option... somehow I had enabled it.. and it changed all sorts of random colours, from game colours to the "Android" red text... not anymore! :D :D

Something that was noticed today, is my browsing are accessing all the Mobile sites, rather than the noraml WEB view. I am guessing because my fingerprint file is a mobile (market fix)... this won't do. I want proper internet. Further investigation needed.

Couldn't access it in Firefox, but in the normal browser I could.

Opened a webpage, typed “about:debug”

Didn't look like anything had changed, but choose the settings and on the left there was DEBUG and then browser mode. Clicked Desktop and voila. :)
